A week of slowing down to come alive.
This 7-night all-inclusive nature-based retreat offers the perfect blend of relaxation and exploration. All of your needs will be taken care of from arrival in Costa Rica until your return home as we travel from San Jose to our primary destination at the peaceful AmaSer Yoga & Retreat Center in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica.

The Destination
Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica is a magical Caribbean costal town where the jungle meets the sea. From black sand beaches to jungle walks and local shops, there is so much to explore- all accessible by foot and bicycle.

AmaSer Yoga & Retreat Center is tucked away from the hustle and bustle while still being an easy walk from the heart of town and the beach. Surrounded by lush jungle vegetation, you can hear the sound of the waves from your room. Toucans frequent the açaà trees in the AmaSer gardens, and sloth sightings are not uncommon. Blue Morhpo butterflies flutter through the campus, and some mornings you'll awake to the sound of howler monkeys traipsing through the trees.

Home to a yoga training center, AmaSer offers comfortable accommodations in a beautiful near-to-nature setting. Amenities include: Yoga platforms with ocean views | Organic vegetarian and wonderfully satisfying meals | An onsite pool | Massage services, and more.

Nourished by Nature
Originating from Japan, Reiki (Ray- Key) is a simple and effective way to offer your self and loved ones a sense of peace and relaxation. Through gentle touch, Reiki helps your body, mind and heart return to a feeling of harmony, balance and flow.
During the retreat you will have the option to learn Reiki and how to share this healing art with yourself and with others. The Reiki learning sessions will be balanced with plenty of time to rest, relax and explore. If you choose not to participate in the Reiki sessions, you will have the gift of additional free time.
Either way, this retreat setting will offer you the time and space to slow down, rest, and be nourished by the jungle, the salt water, the magic of Costa Rica so you go home feeling refreshed.

Reiki Offerings

If you are interested in the Reiki portion of the retreat, please read this section for more information!
If you are just beginning to explore Reiki or want to revisit the foundations of the practice, join us for the Intro to Reiki Retreat (Level I & II).
If you are attuned to Reiki Level II and ready to deepen your practice, the Reiki Master Retreat may be for you. Below is information on what each level entails. For more details, contact us!
Reiki is taught in three levels
Level I introduces the simple practice of Reiki: its history, how it works, and how to offer a full Reiki session to yourself and to other people. You will also receive your first "attunement" to the Reiki, which is an essential element of the modality.

Level II expands your connection to Reiki: you learn simple tools for practicing and sharing Reiki, including how to send "distance" Reiki to both people and situations. You will also receive your second attunement.

Level III (Master) teaches you how to pass Reiki on to others: you with gain additional tools for the practice of Reiki, and learn how to attune others to Reiki (which is such a joy!). You will also receive your third attunement.

Learning Reiki in a retreat setting allows for deep integration of the modality without the distractions of daily life, as well as ample time to practice. Learning in an open air environment in Costa Rica means you will be close to nature 24/7 which will enhance your connection to Reiki in a powerful way.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the water at OM at Cashew Hill safe to drink?
Yes! On site all water is double filtered to ensure drinkability. We recommend NOT drinking tap water in town (be mindful to avoid ice cubes and water-based smoothies).
Where should I fly in to?
We recommend flying into San Jose (SJO) the day before your retreat start date. Awakened Wellness can make hotel recommendations with free shuttles from the airport.
What is the currency in Costa Rica/ how much money should I bring?
The official currency of Costa Rica is the colón (CRC). Note that both USD and CRC are accepted at OM and most establishments in town. There are ATMs in town where you can withdraw either currency, though the lines can be long. Please let your bank and credit card company know you will be traveling outside of the country so they do not freeze your accounts.
Do I need any immunizations for Costa Rica?
Please notify your doctor of your travel plans to receive their guidance and consult the CDC for any additional advice.
Is there Wi-Fi?
The reception area at OM does have wi-fi, but remember you will be in the jungle (meaning slow speed and interruptions to connection) and on a retreat :-)
Is there A/C?
No! :-) And that's the beauty of this destination: everyting is open air. Your rooms have screens on all windows to help keep out critters while still allowing for the fresh jungle breeze and ocean air to flow through! Each room is also equipped with fans for nights when the breeze isn't blowing!
What's the weather like in Puerto Viejo?
Puerto Viejo is located on the Carribean coast of Costa Rica, where the jungle meets the sea. Living in a tropical jungle means warm days and cooler nights. It also means that rain occassionally passes through, which allows the enviornment to remain lush and vibrant. You'll receive a packing list once registered to help you determine what to bring.
What happens if I get sick?
There is a medical clinic one block away from the retreat center and several pharmacies in town. All take walk-ins.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please read our Terms & Conditions in full to understand the cancellation policies.
What is the size of each retreat?
Each retreat must have a minimum of 10 participants to take place. The maximum is 22.
What types of accommodations are available?
OM at Cashew Hill offers cottage-style accommodations nestled into the hillside jungle. While each cottage is charmingly unique, they all include a shared sleeping area (2 to 4 beds), private shared bath and kitchenette.
What Documents are Required for Travel?
A valid Passport from your country of citizenship is required for entry into Costa Rica. The customs process will take place at SJO upon arrival.
