Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica is a magical Caribbean costal town where the jungle meets the sea. From black sand beaches to jungle walks and local shops, there is so much to explore- all accessible by foot and bicycle.
OM at Cashew Hill Yoga & Retreat Center is tucked away from the hustle and bustle while still being an easy walk from the heart of town and the beach. Surrounded by lush jungle vegetation, you can hear the sound of the waves from your room. Toucans frequent the açaí trees in the OM gardens, and sloth sightings are not uncommon. Blue Morhpo butterflies flutter through the campus, and some mornings you'll awake to the sound of howler monkeys traipsing through the trees.
Home to a yoga training center, OM offers comfortable accommodations in a beautiful near-to-nature setting. Amenities include: Yoga platforms with ocean views | Organic vegetarian and wonderfully satisfying meals | An onsite pool | Massage services, and more.
Reiki is a simple, ancient Japanese energy healing modality practiced throughout the world today. Using gentle touch, Reiki promotes a state of deep relaxation that supports a body's innate ability to heal itself. It is simple, effective, and accessible to absolutely everyone. Throughout the retreat you will learn how to share this healing art with yourself and with others.
Your Reiki learning sessions will be balanced with plenty of free time to rest, relax and explore.
You will see that every person connects with Reiki in their own way, which is the beauty of the practice... it invites you to embrace your uniqueness and see it as a gift you have to share with yourself and with the world.
In this retreat setting you will have time and space to observe and connect with your own gifts while being nourished by the jungle, the salt water, the magic of Costa Rica.
If you are just beginning your Reiki journey or want to revisit the foundations of the practice, join us for the Reiki Level I & II training. If you are attuned to Reiki Level II and ready to deepen your practice, the Reiki Master training may be for you. Below is information on what each level entrails. For more details, contact us!
Reiki is taught in three levels
Level I introduces the simple practice of Reiki: its history, how it works, and how to offer a full Reiki session to yourself and to other people. You will also receive your first "attunement" to the Reiki, which is an essential element of the modality.
Level II expands your connection to Reiki: you learn simple tools for practicing and sharing Reiki, including how to send "distance" Reiki to both people and situations. You will also receive your second attunement.
Level III (Master) teaches you how to pass Reiki on to others: you with gain additional tools for the practice of Reiki, and learn how to attune others to Reiki (which is such a joy!). You will also receive your third attunement.
Learning Reiki in a retreat setting allows for deep integration of the modality without the distractions of daily life, as well as ample time to practice. Learning in an open air environment in Costa Rica means you will be close to nature 24/7 which will enhance your connection to Reiki in a powerful way.
Lindsay Erickson is the founder of Awakened Wellness, a holistic health practice dedicated to helping people heal through the power of connection to self, nature and community.
Lindsay's own journey with Reiki began during a time of personal exploration rooted in healing her own body. She received her Reiki Level I & II certifications under Reiki Master and RYT, Linda de Wildt, at Yoga Farm Italy. Lindsay completed her Reiki Master training under the guidance of Reiki Master and MSW, Libby Barnett, at Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health.
Lindsay opened her private practice, which led her to be called to teach Reiki to others. Working one-on-one with her clients, she realized the importance of empowering individuals with tools to care for their own wellbeing & the wellbeing of their loved ones. She believes that if every person in the world received Reiki on a regular basis, we'd heal much of suffering and dis-ease we see today. Since becoming a Reiki Master teacher Lindsay has led more than 18 Reiki trainings in both the United States and Costa Rica.
In addition to her certifications in Reiki, Lindsay is a Registered Yoga Teacher and Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and continues to study energy healing practices through Healing Beyond Borders, Soul Song Institute and A Common Awakening. She considers herself a lifelong student of the healing arts and is committed to sharing her learnings and experiences with those she has the honor to teach.

Yes! On site all water is double filtered to ensure drinkability. We recommend NOT drinking tap water in town (be mindful to avoid ice cubes and water-based smoothies).

We recommend flying into San Jose (SJO) or Limon (LIO). Shuttle transfers are available from both airports/cities. It is a 4 to 5 hour shuttle ride from San Jose to Puerto Viejo. It is approxmiately 1 hour from Limon to Puerto Viejo.
What is the currency in Costa Rica/ how much money should I bring?
The official currency of Costa Rica is the colón (CRC). Note that both USD and CRC are accepted at OM and most establishments in town. There are ATMs in town where you can withdraw either currency, though the lines can be long.
